I would also like to know why there is no line item for food and supplies, these need to be there no matter what even if there are no food and supplies donated. Please set aside enough money in the budget to cover this along with an employee that can be there. Thank you.

In order to provide consistency, proper training and procedures are required to ensure shelter pets are taken care of.A second part time shelter worker would ensure this occurs on days when there is currently no shelter worker on duty

I was wondering why in the Animal control budget there isn’t a line item for food and supplies ? I know a lot of that is donated but when those things get low and donations slow down there needs to be money there just in case . Two things that need to be absolute is food and cleaning supplies . They can also use another part time shelter worker too . Volunteers are awesome but what happens when volunteers don’t show up or stop coming ? The ones who suffer are the animals .

My opinion is several items should be added to the animal control budget 1.There are no budgeted costs for dog/cat food, cleaning supplies, etc, if they are not donated. These are costs to operate a shelter and should be identified 2. An additional part time worker (was budgeted prior to 2020) NTE 30 hours to fill the days when there is no shelter worker at the facility to take care of potential adopters, stray pets, calls, kennel cards, pics, etc.

    My name is Monika Zuccaro.
In my years of helping the Cal City Animal shelter with donations, fundraising, calling assistance from animal control officer, I have noted the following: One animal control officer, and one part time shelter worker, volunteers. Can we really expect volunteers to fill the gap of actual workers? We need to address this now, before a shortage of shelter staff creates a major dilemma. Would like to discuss.
    Thank you
