NB 4. Accept the bid as submitted by J.L. Plank, Inc. dba Cen-Cal Construction, for the
California City Blvd. Pedestrian Safety Improvements – Yerba Blvd. to Neuralia Rd.
HSIPSL – 5399-(032) project in the amount of $418,465.00; and authorize the City
Manager to execute the construction agreement. Allocate Funds for the Bid, and up to
$112,135.00 for Contingency, Construction Management and Materials Sampling &
Testing – by Public Works Director, Joe Barragan
Recommendation
Motion to pass a Resolution to accept the lowest responsible bid, award the project and to
execute a construction agreement with J.L. Plank, Inc. dba Cen-Cal Construction in the
amount of $418,465.00 for the California City Blvd. Pedestrian Safety Improvements – Yerba
Blvd. to Neuralia Rd. HSIPSL – 5399-(032) project and authorize the City Manager to execute
the construction agreement .
Additionally, Staff recommends the approval in the amount of $42,926.00, roughly Ten
percent (10%), for Construction Contingencies crucial to the successful completion of the
project. Said funds will be treated as not to exceed without future authorization from Council.
These funds will be utilized for unforeseen work that may arise during the construction process
which was unforeseen at the time of bidding.
