I agree with Mr Bradley's comments on this issue. The council should NOT be taking on the role of planning & parks/recs commissions. This is not their charter! Council members are not trained for these commissions so not sure what value would be added. The small amount of funds the city pays for these commissions is worth it. Planning commision members get $50/meeting and parks/rec get $0, I really don't think this is gonna put our city in the hole by letting them continue their mission.
I think with all that is going on and needs to be done, that the commissions should continue functioning as they have been and instead maybe the council should spend time listening to their meetings and all to give good feedback. Suspending them or halting them is not conducive and not in the best interest of the community. The little expense is well worth it. It is not for the city council to be taking on those responsibilities, nor can any council member be required to do so.
